Bachelor of Science – Education – Field Endorsement in Elementary Education (Grades K-8)

Graduates of the elementary education program are certified to teach in kindergarten through 8th grade classrooms. Prior to student teaching, elementary education majors complete more than 100 hours of field experience, observing local elementary classrooms. York University works closely with area schools and afterschool programs to offer our students the best real-world experience possible. The elementary education program is the largest program offered by the York University Department of Education.

Master of Arts in Teaching

Wayne State College is excited to offer a new Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) graduate degree, specifically designed for individuals who already hold a bachelor’s degree and are looking to transition into a fulfilling career in education through Nebraska Department of Education’s Alternative Program Teaching Permit pathways.

Education Specialist Certification

Completing the online Ed.S. degree in school administration from Wayne State College may certify you to work as a school administrator at any level in in a P-12 school system.
The Nebraska Department of Education requires successful completion of the Praxis II School Superintendent Assessment. Our program of study is designed to prepare you for such a test, but your performance may depend on many issues beyond the control of our department, including prior educational knowledge, teaching and administrative experiences, test-taking skills, and your retention of course material.

Education Specialist Degree (Ed.S.)

The Education Specialist (Ed.S.) program prepares students for district-level administrative positions and an endorsement for Superintendent but requires less time and money than pursuing a doctoral degree in education (Ed.D.). Students entering the Ed.S. program must have completed a 36-credit hour MSE degree or 36-hour endorsement program in School Administration for Principal. The Ed.S. degree offers a chance to become more proficient in educational administration, while advancing your career and enhancing your credentials.

School Counseling Master's Degree

School counselors combine their desire to help others with an interest in an educational setting. Endorsement as a school counselor is accomplished through the Department of Education in the state where a school counselor is employed. The master's in school counseling program will prepare you well on the path to become a school counselor in Nebraska. If you are hoping to use your degree in a different state, we recommend reviewing the educational requirements for that state.
