Master of Arts in Education, School Counseling

The Online Master of Arts in Education (MAE) School Counseling degree prepares students for a career as a school counselor in public and private elementary, middle, and secondary school settings. We offer two options for this degree. 

  • Option 1 is a 39-credit-hour program that complements your existing Nebraska Teacher Educator Certification. 
  • Option 2 is a 54-credit-hour program designed for students without a teacher educator background who wish to obtain both a Nebraska Teacher Certification and School Counselor Endorsement.

Masters of Arts in Education, Educational Administration

This program requires that the student be qualified for or hold a teaching certificate. The programs are intended to provide the student with advanced knowledge in curriculum, research, assessment, administration, supervision and counseling. It is the responsibility of the students from states other than Nebraska to check with their resident state on specific state required courses needed to obtain their state's administrative endorsement/certificate and to choose their elective courses to meet these state requirements.

Master of Science Instructional Design and Technology

Prepare for advancement in in the educational technology field with this flexible and versatile program. As a graduate student, you’ll focus on strengthening learning outcomes for diverse learners in a variety of settings. As you progress through the master’s in instructional design and technology, you’ll create a unique e-portfolio to demonstrate how you can implement these best practices to future employers.

Master of Arts Teaching Degree

The Master of Arts in Teaching prepares you to earn an initial teaching license from the Nebraska Department of Education for a K-12 classroom (in the state of Nebraska). To enroll in this graduate program, you must have completed a bachelor's degree. *

For example, if you earned a bachelor's degree in biology, you may wish to seek an endorsement in the content area of biology, chemistry or general science.

Bachelor of Science – Education – Field Endorsement in Special Education Generalist (Grades K-12)

Students seeking a teaching endorsement in Special Education Generalist (K-12) are required to complete Professional Education courses, Endorsement courses, and their Essential Studies Program requirements. A student must maintain the required minimum GPA as determined by the Nebraska Department of Education (See Teacher Education Handbook for current GPA)

Bachelor of Science – Education – Field Endorsement in Elementary Education (Grades K-8)

This program covers special instructional methods in science, health, reading, mathematics, social studies, language arts, student and program assessment (tests and measurements), curriculum, guidance, English language learners, multicultural and human relations, classroom management, special education, and other pertinent professional topics and issues.

Secondary Education

The secondary education (7-12) major is for students who want to teach at the middle or high school level.

In our program, you will be known, you will be seen, and you will be cared for by exemplary faculty whose goal is to prepare you to teach all students well.

Upon completion, you will be recommended for teacher certification from the Nebraska Department of Education to teach in one of six content areas.
