Master of Arts in Education, School Counseling

The Online Master of Arts in Education (MAE) School Counseling degree prepares students for a career as a school counselor in public and private elementary, middle, and secondary school settings. We offer two options for this degree. 

  • Option 1 is a 39-credit-hour program that complements your existing Nebraska Teacher Educator Certification. 
  • Option 2 is a 54-credit-hour program designed for students without a teacher educator background who wish to obtain both a Nebraska Teacher Certification and School Counselor Endorsement.

Masters of Arts in Education, Educational Administration

This program requires that the student be qualified for or hold a teaching certificate. The programs are intended to provide the student with advanced knowledge in curriculum, research, assessment, administration, supervision and counseling. It is the responsibility of the students from states other than Nebraska to check with their resident state on specific state required courses needed to obtain their state's administrative endorsement/certificate and to choose their elective courses to meet these state requirements.

Master of Education - Curriculum and Instruction - Elementary – Field Option (Concentration in a Subject Area)

This degree program does not lead to an Elementary Education Teaching Endorsement or Elementary Classroom Certification, or to an Endorsement of certification in any of the field concentration areas. A student may pursue a master's in education with a field concentration consisting of 15 course credits to be selected in consultation with his or her advisor. Three to six course credits of the 36 total credits may consist of a scholarly project, thesis, action research, or practicum/internship.

Master of Science Instructional Design and Technology

Prepare for advancement in in the educational technology field with this flexible and versatile program. As a graduate student, you’ll focus on strengthening learning outcomes for diverse learners in a variety of settings. As you progress through the master’s in instructional design and technology, you’ll create a unique e-portfolio to demonstrate how you can implement these best practices to future employers.

Master of Arts Teaching Degree

The Master of Arts in Teaching prepares you to earn an initial teaching license from the Nebraska Department of Education for a K-12 classroom (in the state of Nebraska). To enroll in this graduate program, you must have completed a bachelor's degree. *

For example, if you earned a bachelor's degree in biology, you may wish to seek an endorsement in the content area of biology, chemistry or general science.

K-6 Elementary Education

Our master of arts in teaching degree is designed for students who already hold a bachelor’s degree in a field other than education. College of Saint Mary offers master’s degrees in elementary, middle and secondary education as well as high-demand endorsement areas allowing you to strengthen your ability to serve students.

Special Education Supervisor

Persons with this endorsement may serve in all special education administrative and supervisory roles in Nebraska schools providing services for students with disabilities, birth through age 21.

Certification Endorsement Requirements: This endorsement requires a minimum of 36 graduate semester hours related to educational leadership and special education administration coursework, and includes an internship experience in special education supervision.
