The Accelerated Special Education Program (AC-SEP) at UNO is a teacher certification pathway for individuals with a baccalaureate degree or higher who wish to earn an Initial Teaching Certificate issued by the Nebraska Department of Education to teach special education.

This program is designed to be completed in two years. Students who successfully complete the qualifications of the Accelerated Special Education Program will be eligible for Nebraska certification in special education.

The secondary education major is designed for students seeking Nebraska certification to teach in secondary content areas in grades 7-12, or in PK-12 settings in the areas of Art, Music, or Physical Education. This major allows students to explore developmental issues of children, learning theory, secondary content area(s), and teaching methods. One of the strengths of the preparation program is the field experiences with local school districts.

The elementary education major is designed for students seeking Nebraska certification to teach in K-6 elementary schools. This major allows students to explore developmental issues of children, learning theory, elementary school content, and teaching methods. Concordia Nebraska’s special education program trains you to serve individuals with mild to moderate disabilities, giving you the skills to address their specific differences, strengths and needs. With a degree in special education, you can ensure that students with disabilities will reach their highest potential in inclusive school environments.

With a degree in secondary education from Concordia University, Nebraska, you will be equipped to teach grades 7-12, encouraging intellectual and emotional growth at a critical time in the lives of your students.

Teachers of music are specially educated to guide creative, artistic development in their classroom or to students on an individual basis. Besides schools, many music education majors find careers in nonprofit organizations such as churches, community centers, daycare centers or through private tutoring. There are many opportunities to share your passion for music with others.

The middle level education program at Concordia University, Nebraska connects theory with practice to prepare graduates to teach grades 5 through 9 in both self-contained and departmentalized classrooms.

As a middle level education major, you will specialize in at least 2 of the following content areas:
