Speech

Persons with this endorsement may teach and direct, or act as a resource person for speech activities in grades 7 through 12.

Certification Endorsement Requirements: This endorsement requires a minimum of 15 semester hours in speech and communication courses, including an approved field experience.

Special Education Inclusion and Collaboration Specialist

This endorsement requires the applicant to have previously obtained the Special Education Generalist endorsement.

Persons with this endorsement may teach, consult, or provide services for children, ages three through age 21, with verified disabilities.

Certification Endorsement Requirements: This endorsement requires a minimum of 15 graduate semester hours in inclusion and collaboration.

Special Education Functional Academic Skills and Independent Living Specialist

This endorsement requires the applicant to have, or earn concurrently, the Special Education Generalist endorsement.

Persons with this endorsement may teach, consult, and provide services to children birth through 21 years of age, who have intellectual, sensory, and/or developmental disabilities, including Autism Spectrum Disorders.

Certification Endorsement Requirements: This endorsement requires a minimum of 15 semester hours in special education course work related to functional academic skills and independent living.

Special Education Early Intervention Specialist

This endorsement requires the applicant to have, or earn concurrently, the Special Education Generalist endorsement at the K-6 or K-12 level.

Persons with this endorsement may teach, consult, or provide services for infants, toddlers, and preschool children, ages birth through prekindergarten, including those with verified disabilities, and support families and other personnel with responsibilities for their care and education.

Special Education Behavior Intervention Specialist (7-12)

Persons with this endorsement may teach, consult, or provide services related to behavioral needs for children with disabilities, grades 7-12.

Certification Endorsement Requirements: This endorsement requires a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in behavior intervention strategies and closely related topics.

If a candidate does not hold a special education endorsement, a minimum of an additional 12 graduate semester hours in special education coursework is required.

Special Education Behavior Intervention Specialist (PK-6)

Persons with this endorsement may teach, consult, or provide services related to behavioral needs for children with disabilities, , grades PK-6.

Certification Endorsement Requirements: This endorsement requires a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in behavior intervention strategies and closely related topics.

If a candidate does not hold a special education endorsement, a minimum of an additional 12 graduate semester hours in special education coursework is required.

Special Education Behavior Intervention Specialist (B-12)

Persons with this endorsement may teach, consult, or provide services related to behavioral needs for children with disabilities, birth through age 21.

Certification Endorsement Requirements: This endorsement requires a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in behavior intervention strategies and closely related topics.

If a candidate does not hold a special education endorsement, a minimum of an additional 12 graduate semester hours in special education coursework is required.

Special Education Generalist (S) (K-6)

Persons with this endorsement may teach and provide services in accordance with 92 NAC 51 for children and youth who have one or more verified disabilities.

Certification Endorsement Requirements: This endorsement requires:

For a Subject endorsement, kindergarten through grade six (K-6), or grades seven through twelve (7-12), a minimum of 42 semester hours is required, of which 30 semester hours must be special education content coursework; or

Special Education Generalist (S) (7-12)

Persons with this endorsement may teach and provide services in accordance with 92 NAC 51 for children and youth who have one or more verified disabilities.

Certification Endorsement Requirements: This endorsement requires:

Secondary Transition Specialist

Persons with this endorsement may teach, consult, or provide transition services for youth with verified disabilities in grades 7 through 12.

Certification Endorsement Requirements: This endorsement requires a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours of coursework and clinical experience related to transition with emphasis on youth with disabilities, ages 14 through 21.
